I had this crazy idea about a month ago to actually have a resolution for 2011. I've never been a big fan of them so this is kind of a big deal to me.
It's been two and a half years since I've trained for anything with a real purpose. It's tough to just go out and run for fun when you've been doing it for a decade with a purpose and somewhere between finishing college, criss-crossing North America multiple times and dabbling in coaching I've kind of gotten out of shape.
I'm not in terrible shape. I've had some solid stints of really high junk miles but most of 2010 saw little running so I've got some work to do.
Therein-lies my 2011 resolution: Run ever day. Minimum 4 miles.
I can't recall a time where I've run for more than 4 or 5 months solid. Most of the training interruptions have been breaks after seasons but I've also had some nasty plantar fasciitis and nagging achilles tendonitis since 2007.
This is going to be a challenge. Between my travels and history of my body breaking down this definitely won't be easy but I think it will give me motivation to get out there every day.
That's where this blog comes in. I decided tonight that I needed to keep track of this adventure. I'll update once a week with something about each run and maybe some bad humor, too.
